On April 13th, 2015 students from the Tosa West Orchestra performed at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. Half of the students played for veterans in the domiciliary, and the other half played for a volunteer recognition ceremony. The Tosa West Orchestras has two concerts for the month of December.
Wednesday, December 3rd, is our annual holiday concert. It is at 7:30 PM at Wauwatosa West High School’s Auditorium. This is a ticketed event – admission can be purchased at the door. Students are $2 and adults are $4. We are performing a mixture of holiday classics, as well as classical orchestral music. Holiday selections will include Leroy Anderon’s Sleigh Ride as well as his Christmas Festival, and musical selections from The Polar Express. Classical selections will include Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances, Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 (which was featured in the movie “Amadeus”),Rimsky Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture, Tchaikovksy’s Capriccio Italien, and Bizet’s Carmen Suite.
Saturday, December 6th, is our annual Kinderkonzert. This is an event for families with young children. There are two concerts, one at 1:00 and one at 2:30. Following each concert, children can enjoy a visit with Santa Claus, a face-painting, crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, punch, and an “instrument petting zoo” where they can try out child-sized instruments! Admission is $1 per person.
